About Me

I am a self-taught painter living in Castletown, Laois, Ireland. My educational and work background is Electronics and Computing though I have always been fascinated by art. For as long as I can remember, drawing and painting have been part of my life. Though I am primarily self-taught I am always trying to improve my craft by participating in workshops given by leading artists. 

I work with oils, acrylics & watercolours. My favourite medium is oil paint. In my opinion, the versatility oils offer simply cannot be matched by any other medium. 

Light, life and the natural world are my inspiration. There is nothing better than the anticipation of getting out and about before daybreak, setting up my portable painting gear to try to capture a beautiful dawn en plein air. The weather does not always behave itself but it is an integral part of the experience that occasionally lends itself to magic.
